Brian Betner focuses his practice on the representation of health systems, hospitals and other health care providers in a broad range of regulatory, operational and strategic matters. These include an emphasis on physician alignment; clinically integrated arrangements; fraud and abuse compliance counseling including OIG/CMS self-disclosure representation; and medical staff governance, credentialing and peer review issues. Brian is particularly interested in matters related to Affordable Care Act implementation by health care providers and regularly speaks and publishes on matters related to health care reform and its impact on hospitals and physicians. He recently completed his term as Vice Chair of the Medical Staff, Credentialing, and Peer Review Practice Group of the American Health Law Association, the nation’s largest organization dedicated to legal issues in the health care industry. Brian has taught for several years at the Indiana University School of Medicine and School of Public Health in the area of health care administration and is on the board of the Heroes Foundation, a local cancer research and support organization. He graduated from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law and completed the Health Law Concentration with Honors while receiving the Outstanding Health Law Student Award. While in law school, he was the Executive Articles Editor and one of the founding members of the Indiana Health Law Review. Prior to attending law school, Brian served in the U.S. Navy.
