										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Co-Chair of Thompson Coburn&#8217;s Higher Education Practice, Aaron has over two decades of experience assisting institutions to navigate complex legal, policy, and governance matters. </p>
<p>He and his colleagues are valued for their deep understanding of the postsecondary regulatory framework, including requirements relating to the federal financial aid programs, accreditation, and state authorization. Aaron also provides specialized strategic and regulatory counsel to institutions, investors, and lenders involved in a wide range of higher education mergers, affiliations, and partnerships (MAPs).</p>
<p>In 2024, Chambers USA (by Chambers &#038; Partners) included U.S. higher education practices and lawyers in their rankings for the very first time. Thompson Coburn&#8217;s higher education practice was one of the nine Nationwide Higher Education Practices recognized, and Aaron Lacey was among the inaugural class of individual attorneys profiled in the publication. Both the higher education practice and Aaron were recognized again in 2025 and 2026.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Kristina Gill practices in the area of education law. Ms. Gill&#8217;s practice focuses on issues related to federal and state higher education law from both a policy and regulatory compliance perspective. Her experience and advice includes issues surrounding compliance with the federal regulatory process, particularly as related to the Title IV student financial aid programs authorized by the Higher Education Act and administered by the U.S. Department of Education.</p>
<p>Specifically, Ms. Gill counsels institutions regarding institutional, student and program Title IV eligibility requirements, including Title IV program review and audit response and resolution, Title IX (sexual harassment) and Clery Act (campus safety) compliance, Annual Safety Reports, EEOC complaints, change of ownership questions and approvals, incentive compensation, licensing requirements, state authorization (on-ground and distance education), DOD/VA educational benefit regulations, gainful employment compliance, and borrower defense to repayment issues. She also advises schools regarding consumer protection and disclosure regulations and trends, and a variety of other legal and regulatory issues impacting educational institutions, including marketing and advertising practices, and third party servicer relationships.  She assists clients in providing formal responses to rulemaking and draft legislation.  </p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>King has represented employers throughout Virginia (based in Richmond for 15 years before relocating to Roanoke) and the Eastern U.S. in all facets of employment and labor relations. <p>King regularly counsels and represents colleges and universities throughout Virginia, and leads the efforts of Woods Rogers&#8217; Higher Education team. He is an active member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA) and a frequent speaker at a wide variety of higher education conferences such as CUPA-HR (College and University Professional Association), the Council of Independent Colleges in Virginia (CICV), and Woods Rogers&#8217;s own Higher Education seminars. In addition, King currently serves as an adjunct professor at the Washington and Lee University School of Law and previously taught at the William &#038; Mary Law School. His experience working for and within higher education institutions gives him valuable insight into the myriad issues facing higher educational institutions.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Linda Johnson is a director with McLane Middleton, Professional Association which has offices in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. She has over 30 years of experience litigating cases in state and federal agencies and courts, and in representing the interests of management in all aspects of labor and employment law. In addition to serving as the firm’s lead labor and employment lawyer, Linda served as the chair of the firm’s Employment Law and Education Law Groups for over 15 years. Linda continues to help lead the firm’s employment law services and to assist companies in New Hampshire and Massachusetts for all their employment law needs.</p>
<p>Linda is currently Vice Chair of McLane Middleton’s Education Law Group and focuses her practice on understanding and serving the needs of K-12 independent  schools. She serves as outside legal counsel and a consultant to many of the country’s top independent day and boarding schools. Linda advises her clients on all aspects of school operations including employment law, student discipline, contracts, fiduciary and tort law, leadership development, investigations, compliance audits, risk management, crisis response, and student safety.  She consults with schools on both prevention and response to all types of educator misconduct and student on student sexual assaults. 										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Tony Guida focuses his practice on the PreK-12, postsecondary, EdTech and corporate training education sectors handling issues relating to federal and state education law, licensing and accreditation, mergers, acquisitions and other substantive changes; institutional governance; government response and crisis management, federal and state education policy; and government affairs. An experienced senior executive in the field of higher education, Mr. Guida bring a unique business side perspective to his engagement with clients. He serves as a team lead for the Duane Morris Education industry group and is a member of the firm&#8217;s governing Partners Board. The Legal 500 US 2021 Guide, which has ranked Duane Morris’ Education Industry Group, notes that Tony &#8220;is described as ‘exceptional’ according to clients&#8221; and &#8220;well respected in the field&#8221; of education.</p>
<p>Mr. Guida has previously served in senior executive positions with two major publicly traded companies that owned and operated colleges and universities on multiple platforms, where his responsibilities included regulatory affairs and compliance, acquisitions and divestitures, government and public affairs, policy, strategic planning, new campus development, and public relations. He has also served as CFO and general counsel for a small proprietary college. Prior to joining the higher education industry more than 15 years ago, Tony was a partner in the litigation section of a large regional law firm.</p>
